Week 39... The Color of a Collection

Somebody pinch me... I'm dreaming!  I see a new collection in my future.

Yesterday was my 19th wedding anniversary with my sweet husband.  I got a beautiful bouquet of flowers and visit from his mother.  Yes the Madame is in the house for the next two weeks, visiting us here from France.  I scored some great magazines from her arrival too.   Côté Sud is one of my favorites!

S.O.S.. and Beer Tasting

Received a fun shipment today from the Bottle Hood company out of California.  They make the coolest items out of recycled glass bottles that are reclaimed from local restaurants, bars and events.  Did you know that glass takes more than 4000 years to decompose??  Avoiding a landfill fate, local craftsmen turn the bottles into mini works of art.  Not only does this company have a conscience, they also have heart....

These limited edition tumblers are designed, bottled and brewed in honor of our Gulf Coast.  A portion of the proceeds goes to help the Gulf Shore Clean up efforts.  These bottles are truly amazing!

Also available at Gillyweed are the recycled Coca-Cola bottle necklaces on leather straps.

Ticket includes a commemorative glass and a take home beer guide. October 26th, 5-9pm.  Gillyweed is selling tickets for this event.. cost is $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Well maybe not exactly a boutique beer but it was on my list of choices.. how could I resist!!!  So come by for a fun night of Jimmy Buffet tunes, free Hawaiian Lays, and a shot of Island Lime Margarita Beer.

Week 38... The Color of Passion

I did not go to one of those big universities that lives & breathes college football.  So when I moved to Georgia, it took a bit of getting used to the love that alumni have for their teams.  Especially here in the South!  I still don't have any interest in football, much to my husband's chagrin, but I can appreciate that passion that surrounds the sport.

Gillyweed participated in the Fall Art Walk last evening in downtown Newnan.  The sweet guy above was one of our many visitors.. no doubt looking for his buddy Luke. (aka sweetest shop dog employee ever).  Thanks "G" for strolling by and giving us our color this week!

Our annual Fall Art Walk will be going on tomorrow night, Friday Sept. 21, from 5pm-8pm.  I sure hope you will venture down to Gillyweed on your stroll and come say hello to Emily and I.

 

 we will be featuring several artists at Gillyweed this year.  Sharon Kopko from Baubles By Eli will be displaying her newest collection.

 

Charlotte Scarce is no stranger to Gillyweed... we love displaying her art all around the shop.

 

We will also have several Encaustic pieces from Valerie Dumas and Gail Ross. 

 

 We have changed the store around to best display our new fall merchandise.  I'm loving these velvet pumpkins right now, $8.00 each.

 

 Our Halloween vignettes are always most talked about....

 New are the solar lids that fit standard mason jars.  How perfect for outdoor lighting, holiday decorating, weddings, parties, endless possibilities.

Week 37... The Color of Motivation

What a beautiful week we have had weather wise... I loved being able to keep the shop door open for the entire day!  The crisp mornings and fall like breezes inspired me to change up our front windows.

We got in these incredible wicker bird houses at the shop this week and I knew I wanted to hang a few of them in the left window with some of our feathered friends.  The chiffon peasant blouse is also a new addition to our Gillyweed collection.

 

  

The right side front window is still undergoing its' transformation and will be revealed next week.... here is a hint, I'm finally able to use all the creepy doll heads I've been collecting!  I think I may have to go out and get a pumpkin or two!!

Week 36... The Color of Crazy

It's been a crazy week I tell ya!!  The Labor Day sale was a huge success but had me scrambling all week long trying to fill some large holes in the shop.  Daily shipments of Halloween and Christmas merchandise are arriving and my family is sick of stepping over boxes.  So it was nice to get out of the house today and spend some quality time with these crazies!  How could I resist not taking pictures when they put on cute little hats for my amusement!!
