Another Successful Class

The nutter butter (below) and I were really excited about teaching the circus themed Encaustic class today.  I found nutter at Feathers & Twigs in Carrollton this weekend and knew she would be the perfect companion for my class!!  The group of ladies were amazing today...

Niki and her 10 yr old daughter, Reese, were making art for Reese's bedroom make-over.
Gail and Kathy painting in their backgrounds.

Kellie, Debbie, and Jan working on their flowers.

I love a colorful palette!!

Rachel's piece turned out great!  Here she is trying decide whether or not to add oil stick for the outlines.

Here you can see Jan's piece with the black oil stick.. see how everything just pops out at you??  Rachel decided to do it and loved how it turned out!!

Beautiful original art for a beautiful young lady's sanctuary.

Thank you to everyone that participated in today's class!  My next class will be in August so keep checking back here and/or on facebook to see our next project.

Enjoy!!

Week 29... The Color of a Bounty

This post is dedicated to a wonderful person we call "Georgia Ann".  Ann was one of my consignors back when I owned The Vintage-Flea.  She has to be one of most generous people I know... look at this beautiful basket of tomatoes she picked for me from her garden!  How sweet is that!!
I knew immediately what I wanted to make with them too.  I bought this amazing magazine at Fresh Market in PTC last week called Summer Eats.  Just look at the cover...
Yum!  The recipe was uber easy to follow.  Cut tomatoes up in thin slices, arrange on baking dish,

then add bread crumb mixture (bread crumbs, olive oil, asiago cheese, parsley).  I added in goat cheese because quite frankly everything tastes better with goat cheese!!
Stick under a hot broiler for 5 minutes and viola!  Silly me to forget to take a picture of the final product but it looked just like the cover photo (mine had a bit more bread crumbs on top).  Delicious!!  Trust me on this one.. get the magazine and enjoy!!

Week 28... The Color of Shop to you Drop

It's that time of the year again!! The ultimate shopping week has arrived and once again I headed up to Atlanta to fight through the crowds of the Americas Mart.  This is the place where I find several new products, artists, and ideas for Gillyweed.  Although I am focusing on 4th quarter items for Halloween and Christmas, I did manage to find some great new products from artist Kelly Rae.
I've carried several of her things before when I was at The Vintage-Flea but man has she branched out and added some fun new products.  Just look at these amazing cuff bracelets!!

Love! Love! Love!  I'll be going back up on Friday to scour through the 4 buildings .. most of them having 16 or more floors of merchandise to pick through.  See how hard I work for you all???  Hee Hee

Enjoy!!

Mosaic Monday

If you grew up with wood paneling in the 70's and 80's... raise your hand!!  We had one room in our house.. a converted garage that was turned into my father's smoking room.  Wood paneling everywhere.
It was awful.  That was wood paneling then, and this is wood paneling now!  The entire Southern Living Showcase Home in Senoia has white paneling boards for walls.  It was so beautiful.. fresh, clean, simple.  I loved it!
Here is the picture of the Master Bedroom which I had to take so that I could put this chandelier (from Ballards) on my Christmas list.  Hopefully Santa got my hints and the rug is going to be put in my stocking.
The Master Bathroom... again that white paneling which is actually a Sherwin Williams white called Pearly White.   I caught the paneling bug and started fixing up the back room at Gillyweed over the weekend.  I was torn between painting or not painting... decided to go "au naturel" for the time being.
Here is the wall completed and the pine wood makes it smell so nice in the room.  Ready now to merchandise and bring in my new clothing lines.
Not inspired yet??  Here are some great pictures that I took from Pinterest for Mosaic Monday.  I haven't done a Mosaic Monday in awhile- blame it on my lazy summer attitude. LOL!  Nevertheless, here we have some great ideas using regular boards and salvaged boards.  If you still can't commit.. the LOVE sign would be a great DIY project to get you started!!

This Mosaic Monday has been linked up to Little Red House.  Have a wonderful week.

Enjoy!!

Week 27... The Color of 100+ Degrees

It was H*O*T this week... over 100 degrees most of the time.
We didn't lay around the whole week though like my kitty Cashew, we visited great friends in Lake Martin.  Here we tried new things like tubing, skiing, and jumping off 25' high docks.  I won't be doing the jumping thing again anytime soon!
Olivia and Brice trying to catch each other
Even Albert got in on the action
4 little monkey sitting on the bed... Brice trying to get onto the other tube in mid pull.  It worked 1/2 the time.
Mid-week we tortured our dog Molly.. just kidding!!  She eventually got used to the fireworks.
Finally ended the week with some amazing Grammy time! (and Frank too)
So how did you beat the heat this week??

Enjoy!!
