Mosaic Monday...

Don't you love a good find??  I do!  I found this gem while out
shopping for my daughter's birthday present.  She wants a new comforter for her bed.  Alas, at the end of the day, it was I who found the perfect comforter... for my bedroom!

It was here that I wrote about my obsession with Chevron patterns... and well you guessed it.. I love Ikat patterns too!  Ikat is Malaysian and is a technique where only the woven threads (warp or weft) get dyed.  Bindings, which resist dye penetration, are applied to the threads in the desired patterns.  When all the colors have been applied to the threads, the bindings are then removed to reveal the beautiful patterns.  Beautiful indeed...

I love how the fabric was hung on the wall as artwork in the bottom photo! And that truck... OMG!  Looking for a fun DIY project?? Why not try to create the Ikat pattern yourself.  This Ikat fabric tutorial from The Mustard Ceiling looks fun to try.... I have some bar stools that are in desperate need of recovering!!  Perfect!!

This mosaic has been linked up to Little Red House.  Ikat photos were found on Pinterest.

Enjoy!

  5. Ikat is so fascinating. I love the coverlet, but I think a pickup truck in Ikat is maybe going a little far.
